Chuncheon = Yonhap News) Journalist Bo Yeon Lim = In a local media briefing held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the Korea Tourism Organization on the 25th, Gangwon-do Province said it appointed Julian Yee, a figure skater for the Malaysian national team, as its ambassador for tourism to Gangwon-do Province.
Astro, the country’s largest satellite broadcaster, signed a production MOU to produce special broadcasts that introduce the legacy of the PyeongChang Olympics and the attraction of winter tourism, Endless Horizon in Gangwon, Korea.
The province has organized the “Gangwon 2018 Winter Travel Mart” to promote the province’s winter charm ahead of the first anniversary of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Julian Yee, who was appointed as the ambassador for tourism in Gangwon-do Province, participated in the Dream Program, a winter sports event promised with the International Olympic Committee when Korea hosted the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and participated in the Pyeongchang Olympics for the first time as Malaysia’s national team.
The special show will also feature Julian Yee and Yoke, the main host of Astro Broadcasting Company’s “Music Award.
During December, five episodes of travelogue that introduce Olympic legacy and experience ski and Korean wave tourist spots around Gangneung and PyeongChang will be shot.
The show is scheduled to air every week starting Saturday, February 9th next year, in time for the first anniversary of PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
“We hope the special show will tell Malaysian more about the beautiful tourism story in Gangwon-do Province, which will be told by a Malaysian boy who achieved his dream in Pyeongchang,” said Il-seop Jung, the director of the tourism marketing division.
